Inside the Espretto Robot Barista — the AI-powered, vision-guided precision kiosk redefining what a cup of coffee can be.
The barista has always been the gatekeeper. Skilled, intuitive, irreplaceable — and, on a busy Monday morning, the single point of failure between you and a good cup of coffee. Espretto was built on a simple conviction: that the craft of espresso is too important to leave to chance, and too valuable to leave unaffordable.
The Espretto Robot Barista is the result of that conviction made physical. A compact, AI-guided kiosk that occupies just 2.5 square metres, operates without staff, and delivers a café-quality espresso — extracted from freshly ground ORO No.01 beans, at 9-bar pressure, calibrated to the gram — in under 60 seconds. Every time. Without exception.
This is not automation as a cost-cutting measure. It is automation as a quality standard — one that no human, however talented, can sustain across hundreds of cups a day, seven days a week.
At the heart of every Espretto kiosk is a 6-axis industrial robotic arm — the same class of precision robotics used in semiconductor fabrication and surgical systems. It handles every mechanical step of the espresso process: dosing from the hopper, tamping with a consistent measured force, positioning the portafilter, and managing extraction from start to finish. The tolerances are not barista-grade. They are engineering-grade.
Paired with the robotic arm is a high-performance commercial grinder, calibrated to the gram on every dose. Grind size is adjusted automatically based on real-time extraction data — if humidity shifts, if the bean batch changes, if the ambient temperature rises — the system compensates before the next cup is pulled. There is no manual recalibration. There is no drift between the morning service and the afternoon rush.

Every espresso is extracted at precisely 9-bar pressure — the internationally recognised standard for optimal extraction. Not approximately. Not on average. Every single shot, every single time.
The vision sensor system is what separates the Espretto kiosk from every automated coffee machine that came before it. A multi-camera array monitors the extraction in real time — analysing the colour, flow rate, and crema formation of each shot as it pulls. If the extraction deviates from the target profile by even a fraction, the system flags it, logs it, and adjusts the parameters for the next dose. The machine is, in the most literal sense, learning from every cup it makes.
This is AI-powered telemetry applied to coffee — a discipline that has never existed before, because no one has built a system capable of closing the feedback loop at this speed and granularity. The result is not just consistency. It is continuous improvement, baked into the hardware.
Industrial-grade precision on every dose, tamp, and extraction. Tolerances measured in fractions of a gram and milliseconds.

Live extraction data feeds back into the system continuously. The machine improves with every cup it makes.
High-performance grinder calibrated to the gram. Beans delivered within 48–72 hours of roasting. No stale stock. Ever.
The front of every kiosk is dominated by a 32-inch touchscreen — a full-colour, high-resolution ordering interface that displays the full menu, customisation options, and real-time preparation status. It accepts NFC contactless payment directly: tap your card, your phone, or your watch. Apple Pay, Google Pay, and all major contactless cards are supported natively. There is no app required to buy a coffee. There is no registration, no loyalty card, no friction.
For those who want more, the Espretto mobile app — available on iOS and Android — unlocks the full experience. Order ahead before you arrive. Save your preferred drink, your milk choice, your temperature. Track your loyalty rewards automatically — every tenth drink is on us, without punch cards or plastic schemes. Manage your ORO No.01 subscription. And access the feature that surprises everyone who tries it for the first time.

Order ahead, save your preferences, track loyalty rewards, and manage your subscription — all from a single screen designed for the way you actually move through your day.
From order confirmation to cup in hand. The Espretto Robot Barista completes the full espresso process — grinding, dosing, tamping, extracting, and steaming — in under 60 seconds. No queue. No wait.
There is a button in the Espretto app labelled Latte Art Upload. Tap it, select any image from your camera roll — a portrait, a landscape, a child's drawing, a company logo, a face — and the AI system takes over. It analyses the image, optimises the contrast and resolution for the foam surface, and transmits the print instruction to the kiosk's integrated food-safe inkjet module.
Twenty seconds later, your image is on your coffee. The ink is derived entirely from natural food-safe colourants. The resolution is precise enough to reproduce a recognisable face, a legible word, or a detailed illustration. And the time penalty — twenty seconds on a sixty-second order — is barely perceptible in the context of a morning commute.

The applications extend well beyond the personal. A corporate event where every cup carries the company logo. A wedding where the couple's portrait appears on every flat white at the reception. A birthday coffee with someone's face on it, ordered from a phone in a different city and waiting at the kiosk when they arrive. The technology is identical in every case. What changes is the meaning it carries.

The high-street coffee market has been running the same playbook for two decades: charge a premium for a branded cup, justify it with ambient music and comfortable seating, and rely on the fact that most consumers have never tasted what their coffee could actually be. That playbook is running out of road.
Espretto is built on a structurally different model. Beans roasted locally and delivered fresh. No barista labour. No café lease. And unlike traditional franchise chains where royalties erode operator margins at every level, Espretto franchise partners keep more of what they earn — because the cost savings are structural, not cosmetic. Every efficiency flows directly to the customer, which is why an Espretto flat white will always cost at least 30% less than the equivalent at Costa or Starbucks. Not as a promotional rate. Not for a limited period. As a permanent, structural commitment.
The kiosks are already expanding. Transport hubs, office lobbies, university campuses, retail destinations — anywhere people move through their day and want a coffee that is worth stopping for. Each unit connects to the cloud in real time, allowing the Espretto team to monitor extraction quality, bean freshness, and machine health remotely. If a parameter drifts, the system knows before the customer does.
Permanently below the high street. Not a promotion — a structural commitment. Robotic efficiency, local supply chains, and no franchise overhead mean every saving goes directly to you.
The first Espretto Robot Barista kiosks are coming. The app is in development for iOS and Android. If you are an ORO No.01 subscriber, you will be among the first to know when and where the kiosks launch — and the first to access the photo print feature before it opens to the public.
This is what the future of coffee looks like. Not a compromise. Not a trade-off. Just the best cup you have ever had — in sixty seconds, at a price that makes sense.
